As humanity endures a social and ecological meltdown of global proportions, we call for the creation of a Global Consciousness Movement to pressure the banking industry to end speculation and, instead, invest to meet the world's future needs.

Our plan demands social accountability from the banks, and in our book, Digging Out: Global Crisis and the Search for a New Social Contract, we spell out how to make that happen. We offer a plan to collect funds through daily financial transactions to fund local development, public health, education, and peaceful conflict resolution worldwide.

A new social contract will empower civil society to effect and expand globally-coordinated, locally-implemented, NGO-community partnerships to build the infrastructure we need to bolster human capital and unleash human ingenuity. It will employ the world's youth in sustained, coordinated problem-solving endeavors in their communities and around the world. It will turn the tide against overpopulation and save our environment.

If you agree with our principles and plan, we invite you to help advance this cause.  Send us an email to register, and we will keep you informed of upcoming events and activities. You can participate in outreach initiatives and help build the buzz of global consciousness. When you sign up for a free subscription on the blog, GlobalTalk, you'll get a notification as ideas are posted, and you can comment on the posts of other writers. You can help, and you'll make a difference.

Our world faces a mounting crisis, and a concerted, sustained, collaborative effort is required to avoid a socioecological collapse. Corporate, finance and governmental prescriptions are failing. What is needed is the broad input and participation of the world's people. LocalGlobalNexus.net has a winning plan.  Join the campaign for a Global Consciousness Movement.
